Officers were called to the city's Prezzo restaurant on the corner of the High Street this evening (Sunday September 16th).

Wiltshire Police say cordons have been set up in the area 'as a precautionary measure'.

They were called at 6.45pm to reports of a man and a woman having been taken ill.

Investigations are underway into the cause of that illness.

Salisbury Police has posted an update on the incident on their Facebook page:

Fire and ambulance crews have also been called out in support of the incident, with a number of emergency services working from a 'base' on Crane Street.

It's believed customers that were in the restaurant have been evacuated.

Officials have taken a record of everyone who was at the scene and have been carrying out medical checks with them.

There have been rumours circulating that the hospital had been placed on lockdown this evening, but it's been confirmed that the site is OPEN as usual.

The Chief Executive of Salisbury District Hospital, Cara Charles-Barks, has tweeted about the impact that tonight's incident is having on them:
