The Amesbury secondary activated their emergency procedure this afternoon (Monday October 8th).

The alarm was raised at around 1.00pm today, with students and staff asked to go into lockdown.

That's a procedure that's been rehearsed many times and is their standard procedure when an incident occurs.

Parents were sent a text to let them know what had happened.

They were also sent another when the lockdown status was lifted.

The school has confirmed to Spire FM that the situation was resolved within about 30 minutes.

We've been given this statement from Wiltshire Police:

"We were called to Stonehenge School, in Amesbury, shortly after 1.00pm today after concerns were raised about a comment made by a pupil, which could be considered as threatening.

"Officers attended and spoke to staff, who confirmed no police action was required."
