A man's been assaulted in Amesbury

Police are investigating after a 40 year old was left with cuts and bruises following an alleged assault in Amesbury.

The incident took place at around 6.30pm on Wednesday 17th October on the High Street, Amesbury.

The victim, along with a friend, were approached by a man who accused them of spitting on a family member.

They ignored the person and walked on to the Co-Op and then towards Aldi. It was then that they noticed the man once again, but this time he had been joined by a second male and a woman.

The two men began punching the victim and verbally abused him and his friend.

The victim sustained swelling, cuts and bruising to his face, ear, head and shoulder.

The main suspect, who is not known to the victim, is described as white, aged in his late teens, and of a skinny build. He had ginger hair and was wearing a black coat.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries into the incident overnight and have been gathering any available CCTV footage.

Wiltshire Police have told Spire FM they believe there were a number of witnesses to the incident and they are keen to hear from them as soon as possible.
