Man dies in A345 crash

The road remains closed while a collision investigation can take place.

A man aged in his 50's has sadly died following the collision this morning on the A345.

Just before midday, a Ford Focus and a Citroen DS4 collided on the Amesbury road, just 350 metres north of the junction with Winterslow Road.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said;

"The driver of the Ford Focus was travelling northbound along the A345 from High Post towards Amesbury, when, for reasons unknown at this time, collided with the Citroen which was traveling in the opposite direction. "

The driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue along with South Western Ambulance Service also attended.

An air ambulance along with three road ambulances attended.

The three occupants of the Citroen sustained minor injuries. 

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, who has not already spoken to police, to call 101 and quote log number 94 of 2 November.
