Published by Ellie Harries at 1:13pm 13th November 2018.

A man attempted to enter a house on Nett Road in the village before being stopped by the homeowners.

The couple, who are in their 60's, were at home this morning (13th November) at around 6am when they saw a man in their garden.

He was seen opening a window which was unlocked.

They confronted him and he then left their house, taking nothing with him.

He's described as;

  • White
  • In his 20's and 30's
  • Slim build
  • 5ft 8ins tall
  • Wearing a grey hooded top with the hood tied closely around his face

PC Damian Waldron, from Wiltshire South Community Policing Team, said:

"Luckily nothing was stolen and the offender didn't manage to gain entry to the house, but this appears to have been an opportunistic crime by someone looking for insecure houses to break into.

"This is a timely reminder to people to make sure their homes are locked up overnight or whenever they go out, and you can find more crime prevention advice on our website.

"Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area earlier today, or do you have information about this attempted burglary? If you do, please call police."

Anyone with information should contact PC Waldron on 101, quoting crime reference 54180107495.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
