Services on the South Western network have been severely disrupted this morning due to over running engineering works.

Works between London Waterloo and Surbiton have taken longer then expected leaving all lines blocked this morning (Monday 19th November).

Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Customers had been advised not to travel to London Waterloo.

The Network Rail engineering works were originally due to be cleared by 4:30am this morning.

There's now been an update from South Western Railway (10.04am):

Network Rail has issued a statement about the disruption:

"We are very sorry to passengers for the serious disruptions to services on the South Western Railway network today.

“This was caused by our overrunning engineering work near Surbiton which meant we were unable to open a number of lines into Waterloo station until after 9.30am.

“We are working hard to return the train service to normal as soon as possible, but passengers should expect serious disruption for the rest of the day and continue to check before they travel.”
