Salisbury's ice rink taking shape

For the first time ever the city will have a rink with real ice for skating fans to take to.

The ice rink, a popular attention to the city's Christmas market, is being set up in the Guildhall Square.

It's 240 metres square, that's almost the size of a tennis court and is covered by a marquee which means it can be used in all weathers.

It's due to open next Thursday (29th November) and you'l get the chance to have a go right through until January 6th.

Each session is an hour, and you'll have 45 minutes on the ice.

They'll be aids to hire for little ones.

Early bird tickets are still available until Thursday (22nd November).

The all-weather rink is part of this year's Christmas Market.


They'll be 44 chalets this year, down on the usual 70.

Some of those will go alongside the ice rink in the Guildhall Square whilst others will be place down Queen Street.

A Wiltshire Council spokesperson told Spire FM.

“When the market and ice rink open on Thursday 29 November, there will be 44 Christmas chalets in both the Guildhall Square and Queen Street, offering a great selection of artisan goods and tasty street food, including for the first year ever, a festive double decker bus bar."
