One of the festive statues has gone missing overnight in the city.

Carol the Nutcracker was taken last night (4th December) from St John Street in Salisbury.

The six foot tall characters were set up less than a week ago in the city, as a fun initiative for families to enjoy.

The idea is to follow the trail and collect their names - but now one is missing.

Salisbury BID Chief Executive Robin McGowan said:

"This is a family-friendly festive trail designed to provide lots of free fun for children while attracting visitors into the city centre.

"It's a shame that the actions of one or two inconsiderate individuals risk spoiling that fun and we urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of the Nutcracker to come forward to the BID or the police so he can be returned."

The other Nutcrackers in the city have this message for the thief...

If you've got any information contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 54180115129.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or you can call Salisbury BID on 01722 658000.
