It's being escorted by police and could cause congestion on the roads.

Starting at 10am today (18th December), the 'abnormal load' will head from the A361 near Frome towards the A303.

Here's the route;

  • A361 from Torr Works around Frome to the A36
  • A36 South from Beckington around the Warminster by-pass and via Knook to Deptford.
  • A303 Eastbound from Deptford to the Hampshire border at Parkhouse

The 145 ton vehicle is nearly 5 metres wide and will take up approximately one and a half lanes of a standard road.

A spokesperson with Wiltshire Police said;

"It will be both slow moving and have the potential to cause congestion in places where oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the load to pass.

"Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this load.

"Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey."

Police escorting resources are being provided by officers, paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
