Luke Ridley bravely went to the aid of a woman stuck in her burning car on the A303, saving her life.

He's now been recognised by the community for his selfless act by being awarded one of Spire FM's Local Hero Awards.

In November 2018, Luke came to a woman's aid after her vehicle burst into flames on the A303 (23rd November).

Luke was on his way to work in his van near Solstice Park when he saw a Nissan Micra veer off the road in front of him and end up in bushes.

The 30 year old tree surgeon immediately pulled over to help.

The Nissan Micra began to smoke and caught fire whilst the woman, who's in her 60's, was trapped inside .

Apart from suffering smoke inhalation, the woman was thankfully uninjured.

Luke told Spire FM he was "relieved" to be able to get the driver out but can't believe he's been recognised like this...
