New ways to pay Wiltshire Council tax online

New ways to pay Wiltshire Council tax online

Published by Faye Tryhorn at 1:20pm 11th March 2019.

A digital service has been launched with the aim of making it easier for us to track our account.

Wiltshire Council's hoping the service will also save the authority more than £5 million by 2020, by freeing up staff and paperwork.

The online service will give residents a chance to see their account history, change our direct debit details, claim discounts and print bills, 24/7.

We'll also be able to make payments directly, if we don't have it coming out of our bank accounts already.

All you'll need is your council tax reference number, found at the top of your bill, along with your name and address.

If you're already paying Wiltshire Council tax by direct debit, you don't have to do anything, but you can still create a log in to use the other features.

There'll also be details about the service coming through our letterboxes with our council tax bills being sent out from this week.

The authority's made this video, explaining more about the system:

Philip Whitehead, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for ICT, said:

"We're delighted to offer this new service to our residents, which makes it simpler and easier to pay and manage their council tax online, at a time convenient to them.

"This is just the start of our ambitious digital programme, which will make it easier for residents to access a range of our services securely online at a time of their choosing.

"I would encourage all residents to sign up for the new online council tax service and create an account, as it will make it easier for them to manage their council tax payments each year. It will also free up officer administration time, so we can deliver services more effectively."

You can find out more about the service on the Wiltshire Council website.
