A man in his 20s was found to be driving with a child unrestrained and not in a seat, as well as having no MOT and a bald tyre.

On Thursday (March 14th), police were flagged down by a member of the public who had concerns about a Toyota Avensis.

The vehicle had five passengers on board, one of which was a toddler who was completely unrestrained and not in a seat.

The car can only hold four passengers and a driver.

Police located the car on Pointers Way in Amesbury.

The male driver, aged in his 20s, was reported for summons for driving with a child wearing no seatbelt as well as having no MOT on the vehicle, and a tyre with no tread.

PC Aaron Pedliham, of Team 5 Community Policing Team in Amesbury, said:

"I would like to thank the member of the public who flagged us down and made us aware of this vehicle.

"Due to their actions, we quickly located the car and took action against the driver.

"I'd always encourage the public to continue to report concerns like this to the police. Road safety is an important policing matter, and this driver showed a clear disregard for traffic law and the safety of his passengers and other road users."
