Crash on A303 at Stonehenge

Emergency services have been dealing with an accident near the world famous stones (picture from Amesbury Police Twitter).

Paramedics, police and fire-fighters were called to the scene shortly after 6.00 am this morning (Wednesday March 20th).

A blue Volkswagen Polo left the westbound carriageway and overturned.

Fire and ambulance were called out to assist at the scene.

One man was taken by ambulance to a major trauma centre at Southampton General Hospital as a result of the crash.

There's no word on the nature of the injuries suffered.

Traffic had been slow in both directions, but police tell us the incident was dealt with by 7.30am:
