Motorcyclist dies in crash near Chilmark

Police were called to a stretch of the B3089 between the village and Fonthill Bishop at 3.50pm yesterday afternoon (24th March).

The accident on Salisbury Road involved an orange Honda motorcycle.

The rider, a man in his 60s, was sadly declared dead at the scene.

Wiltshire Police say his family have been informed and are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.

The force say "Our thoughts are with them at this sad time."

The road was closed for seven hours while investigation work took place.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the motorcycle beforehand, including anyone who may have dash cam footage is urged to call the Wiltshire Police Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting log 216 of the 24th March.
