A303: Man dies following crash

Wiltshire Police has confirmed a driver was killed in the incident near Amesbury this morning (Wednesday May 8th).

The crash happened between the Countess and Longbarrow roundabouts on the A303 at around 6.30am.

A grey Citroen collided with a parked up lorry.

The driver of the Citroen, who's local and in his 30s, died at the scene of the collision.

His next of kin have been informed and police say 'their thoughts are with them at this time'.

The lorry driver wasn't hurt.

A303 NOW RE-OPENED

The road had to be shut in both directions for a time while the incident was being dealt with and investigations carried out.

After six hours of closure, the carriageway has now fully re-opened.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch with them.
