The social enterprise, with the slogan 'Doing Good With Food', now has a proper base for the first time (picture from Jeremy Nettle).

Since 2013, the not-for-profit organisation has been running its services from pop-up sites around the city.

But now, Salisbury City Council has given the Pantry Partnership a space at the Victoria Park Bowls Club to call their own.

The new base will be named 'Pantry in the Park'.

The Salisbury scheme has put together a video, explaining what they're all about:

They've been running community cafes for people who might otherwise not get a nutritious meal, as well as helping to alleviate loneliness.

Cooking lessons and workshops are also hosted by the Pantry Partnership.

They work closely with local supermarkets, to take surplus food that would have gone to waste, and re-use it to help others in the community.

Charities like the Trussell Trust and Headway also partner up with the organisation to offer additional support for their service users.

Director of the Pantry Partnership, Fiona Ollerhead, has told Spire FM why their new base is so needed:

"We're getting so much surplus food, we needed to be able to process it, we can't bear throwing it in the bin. We wanted to be able to store it and use it, and we were running out of space for that. Also, increasingly we've had more and more people coming to us and saying they want to get involved in cooking activities, which is brilliant for their health and wellbeing, so we just wanted to do more of the same really."

Salisbury City Council's leader, Jeremy Nettle, has posted on social media about the official opening of the centre:

He told Spire FM:

"(It's a) great example of a social enterprise working with other organisations in Salisbury. Pleased they have found a new home as The Pantry in Victoria Park, thanks to Salisbury City Council."
