Teenager charged with drug and slavery offences

The 19-year-old was arrested in London over the supply of crack cocaine and heroin in the Salisbury and Amesbury area.

Jordan Essien, from South London, was arrested on Tuesday (14th May) following an investigation by Wiltshire Police's Dedicated Crime Team into drug supply in Wiltshire.

He has today (16th May) been charged with the following offences:

  • Being Concerned in Supply of class A drugs - Crack Cocaine
  • Being Concerned in Supply of class A drugs - Heroin
  • Human Trafficking under the Modern Slavery Act 2015

He appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning where he was remanded in custody.

Detective Sergeant Geoff Smith of the Dedicated Crime Team said:

"Information from the public is vital in the fight against the scourge of drug supply and modern slavery which often go together.
