The crew that attended The Maltings on the day the Skripals fell ill, have been commended.

The recognition for Group Manager Tim Gray, Crew Manager Martin Waker, Firefighter Neil Endicott, Firefighter Lisa Morrell and Firefighter Josh Wyer (pictured here) were part of Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service's annual awards ceremony.

They're the team seen in those now iconic photos of the emergency services personnel in the hazmat suits from March 2018.

The event held at Salisbury Guildhall is hosted as a way of recognising the staff that have gone the extra mile.

It's also a chance for firefighters to be given their Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, presented on behalf of HM The Queen.

Chief Fire Officer Ben Ansell said:

"Our annual awards ceremony is our chance to take stock, recognise the extraordinary work being done in all parts of our organisation, and to feel real pride in how we help individuals, businesses, partner agencies and the wider communities across Dorset and Wiltshire to live safer and healthier lives. It was an excellent evening, and my thanks go to everyone who attended for their support."

The awards are held in Salisbury as that's where the Brigade's headquarters are.

AWARD FOR AMESBURY LIFESAVER TOO:

The awards ceremony also recognised Luke Ridley from Amesbury.

He stepped in to help a woman after her car came off the A303, landed in some trees and burst into flames one morning last November.

Luke Ridley Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Commendation

Luke's been given the Chief Fire Officer's Commendation for this 'quick-thinking and bravery' during the incident.

This latest award comes a few months after Luke also won a Spire FM Local Hero Award for his involvement.
