One of the most popular events of the Salisbury International Arts Festival will give us a chance to get up close to the activities.

Over the next two days (Sunday 26th and Monday 27th May), the streets of Salisbury will be filled with outdoor theatre, live music, dance, circus and more besides.

'City Encounters' is all free of charge and will take place in locations include the Old George Mall, Guildhall Square, Maltings, and the Arts Centre amongst others.

Street dance will be among the activities we can see in Salisbury city centre on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday

Some of the activities planned are bound to impress too.

Here's some the highlights:

  • PULSE! - performed entirely around a unique 3.5m high percussion wheel, this adrenaline-fuelled dance and live music production is a combination of rhythmical flare and heart-in-mouth choreography
  • Fantabulosa! (pictured below) - step into a pop-up world of imagination and storytelling where boundaries are forgotten and anyone can be whoever they want to be. Join some of the UK's leading drag artists for an unmissable show featuring interactive storytelling, lipsync, dress-up, games, songs and a LOT of glitter!
  • Les Gloriables - a riotously silly physical comedy show, inspired by Les Miserables
  • Man on the Moon - George Orange is an eccentric clown and slack-rope dancer from Chicago. He has come via the Moon, and brought a bit of it with him. Watch as he performs comedy and circus routines including contortionism and bottle balancing, all set to music
  • Frock (pictured above) - this 'Punkish' explosion is a celebration of individuality. Watch a clash of eras, a collision of partner-work and an outburst of fashion in this show which makes you question what is considered acceptable appearance

The Maltings Green will host plenty of fun with Fantabulosa!
