This year the event is raising money for Julia's House children's hospice.

Today, Saturday 15 June 2019, is probably the biggest day of the year in Amesbury - it's Carnival Day!

Following on from last night's live music event in Holders Field, the procession will wind its way through the town later from 11:30am.

There will be some road closures in the centre of town while that passes through.

The theme for 2019 is Cartoon Characters Through the Ages, and there'll be a host of colourful floats and individuals led by the hilarious Bournemouth Carnival Band. There will also be a 6m tall giant puppet.

  • REME Lightning Bolts Parachute Display Team
  • The Wimborne St Giles horse drawn steam fire engine
  • Falconry display
  • The Adrenaline Tour Quad Bike stunt show

A team of around 17 volunteers from the McDonald's in Amesbury are also going to be attending the Amesbury carnival, and they'll be helping out and picking-up litter following the procession.

Organisers say there will be lots to do for everyone with the Dog show, Funfair, Ferret Racing, Mini Steam Engines, Climbing Wall, Archery, Gymtrack, the beach is back, many stalls supporting groups and charities. There will also be a wide range of food stalls, ice cream vans and two bars.

The main charity supported by the Amesbury Carnival and Show 2019 is Julia's House,

The procession begins from Holders Road, Amesbury, SP4 7PJ.
