Fire at Bulford St Leonard's School

Crews have been dealing with a blaze at the primary school this afternoon.

Firefighters were called at 12.55pm today (Monday June 17th) to reports of a fire in the roof of one of the buildings.

Engines from Amesbury, Andover and Salisbury have been at the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform from Salisbury.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service tell us the incident was dealt with by 2.30pm.

It's believed the cause of the blaze in a teaching block is an electrical fault in one of the solar panels.

Crews used foam to put out the fire.


Bulford St Leonard's have updated Spire FM News with more details about what happened: 

"All emergency procedures were implemented quickly and efficiently, and all children and staff were evacuated safely.

"Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Services attended and quickly brought the fire under control, to enable further clean-up work all children were sent home for the remainder of the day.

"Thank you to all staff, children and parents for such a swift and calm response which enabled the situation to be dealt with quickly.

"The school will be open as usual tomorrow (Tuesday 18th June )."
