Knife wielding man arrested in Salisbury

Officers were called to The Friary last night (17th June) after a member of the public reported a man 'threatening people with a knife.'

At least five police units along with an ambulance were called to the scene after a local resident called 999.

Wiltshire Police have given Spire FM this statement.

"We were called at approximately 7.20pm last night to a report of a man in The Friary believed to be in possession of a knife which was causing alarm to members of the public.

Officers attended the scene and arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He is currently in custody in Melksham."
