Man assaulted in Old Sarum

Police investigating whether a 'sharp item' was used after the victim suffered a cut to his face.

At around 11.15pm on June 8th a man in his 50's was approached by a another man in The Portway who asked him for a cigarette.

When the man refused, he was hit in the face.

Officers say the suspect ran off in the direction of the roundabout and the victim got back in his vehicle.


  • White
  • Around 5 ft 10 inches tall, of proportionate build.
  • Aged around 35 to 40
  • Clean shaven.
  • Wearing a dark coloured jacket and either a hoodie underneath or a hat on his head.

PC Amanda Conn said:

"The victim sustained a cut to his face and attended Salisbury District Hospital for treatment. It is not clear at this stage if the offender used a sharp item during the assault but we are continuing to investigate and would welcome any further information from the public.

"Although the area was quiet at the time, we are hopeful that someone may have seen the suspect running off from the scene or may recognise the description provided."
