Man charged with attempted theft of Salisbury's Magna Carta

Mark Royden has also been charged with criminal damage relating to the incident.

On the 25th October, the famous document at Salisbury Cathedral was targeted.

The 804-year-old priceless document was fortunately not damaged.

A new display cabinet has been made with extra safety features, giving it the highest security rating of any case in the UK.

Mark Royden, aged 46, of Devon, has now been charged with attempted theft and criminal damage.

He is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on June 28th.
