Bus information for Salisbury AFD

Published by The Spire FM News Team at 11:31am 26th June 2019. (Updated at 1:24pm 26th June 2019)

There are quite a few changes to services over this weekend (28-30th June).

We're being advised not to drive to the event.

So if you've taken heed of that - here's the bus information you'll need:

Due to the parade on Saturday, many of the city centre roads are closed from 6am 'til 2pm.

This means that several inaccessible bus stops will have been moved.

Salisbury Reds will move all bus services to the Coach Station off Castle Street until 2pm when the parade finishes.

How to get to the coach station

Salisbury Reds said:

"In addition, buses will not be able to call at the Rail Station or at any bus stops on Fisherton Street, Bridge Street, Brown Street, Exeter Street, Milford Street, Bedwin Street or Estcourt Road, or at the bus stops on Castle Street near Iceland or opposite Scots Lane.

"Please be aware that the Coach Station is approximately 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre shops, so please ensure that you allow yourself plenty of time to get to/from your destination."

All buses will return to their normal routes and bus stops at 2pm.

Buses on Friday and Sunday, run by Salisbury Reds, will stay the same.

On Friday and Saturday, you'll be able to get a free bus back into the city centre from 2.45pm

They'll run from 2.45pm on Sunday as well.

These buses will run until 9.00pm on Friday and Saturday evening and 6.00pm on Sunday.

Anyone who leaves after that time will need to walk to either the city centre or the Beehive Park and Ride.

Wiltshire Council said:

"Unfortunately buses will not be able to pick up outside Hudsons Field after these times as Castle Road will be closed to all traffic. However, the city centre is an easy 20 minute walk from the event."

A spokesperson for the authority says this is also for safety reasons, as close to 40,000 will be leaving the site at the time.

Anyone with mobility issues will be able to get transport from the event, which will be a shuttle bus approximately 30-45 minutes after the end of the event.

The regular park and ride bus services will operate as normal on Friday and Saturday from their regular five sites and will drop off at the city centre.

Travel on those buses is free for those using the Park and Ride car parks.

For safety reasons the pick-up point for those at the end of the concert will be further away from the event site than normal.

Therefore if you are staying to the end of the evening’s entertainment you will need to walk down to one of these points to catch your bus:

  • For Cattle Market and Wilton park and rides you will need to walk 20 minutes to the coach station to catch your bus.
  • For Beehive Park and Ride sites or the yellow car park you will need to walk 20 minutes to the Beehive Park and Ride site to catch buses.

Last buses to Wilton and Cattle Market will leave the coach station at approximately 11:30pm Friday and Saturday, and 8pm on Sunday.
