More mental health support for Wiltshire children

Published by Spire FM News at 5:44am 15th July 2019.

Experts will go into schools to help children struggling with issues like anxiety and exam stress.

It's all part of NHS England's Mental Health Support Team Trailblazer scheme, which is being rolled out across the county after first launching in Swindon.

The specialists will spend time with pupils helping them navigate life in and out of school.

They'll touch on things like exam stress, low mood and friendships difficulties.

£9.3 million will be spent on the programme, which is expected to launch early next year.

In 2017, one in nine young people aged five to 15 had a diagnosable mental health condition, and the team hope the new Trailblazer scheme will help catch any problems - like anxiety and stress - earlier.
