A blaze, which also severely damaged an office at Salisbury Car Centre, was attended by 10 engines (photo from Michael Adamson).

The blaze, off the A338 through Winterbourne Gunner, was reported just before 1.00am yesterday morning (Sunday 14th July).

Three cars and garages next to them were found alight.

Many of the crews were also called out to try and prevent some embers flying to the roof of the thatched property next door.

Engines from Salisbury, Ludgershall, Pewsey, Tisbury, Fordingbridge, Andover, Romsey, Stockbridge, Winchester and Andover were called out.

Some of those were stood down as they confirmed the house hadn't been affected.

Salisbury Car Centre posted on their social media to say they'll be closed today (Monday July 15th).

They've said they'll restart sales from a site at the Clearway Garage on the A30 London Road from tomorrow (Tuesday 16th).

A video's been uploaded from the scene:

Workshop services are suspended for the time being, while repairs are carried out on site.

The garage also said they've lost 'a number of cars and (their) entire office'.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service say they're looking into the cause of the fire.

Early indications suggest it could be an electrical fault.

Wiltshire Police have confirmed they're NOT investigating any wrongdoing, saying 'there's no evidence to confirm it was suspicious at this stage'.
