The Tidworth branch will no longer provide doctors appointments.

From Friday (19th July), patients will have to go to either the Larkhill or Durrington site to see a doctor or nurse.

A statement released said:

"Cross Plain Health Centre has faced considerable staffing challenges over recent months which have resulted in their decision to stop providing general practice services from their Tidworth branch from 19 July 2019.

"Recent inspections of Cross Plain Health Centre by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have also identified that further reassurances around staffing provision are required."

There are drop in sessions this week for patients to ask questions.

They are on:

  • Wednesday 17 July, 12.30 - 2pm
  • Thursday 18 July, 5-6pm
The Durrington surgery will close in 2020

Dr Celia Grummitt, Partner at Cross Plain Health Centre explains:

"Providing a sustainable health service for our patients is our priority and while we have been successful in being able to provide additional GPs on a short-term basis, it is not sustainable in the longer term.

"It has been a very challenging time for the practice and we have had to make some difficult decisions in the best interest of our patients.

"Working together with Millstream Medical Centre we can provide enough clinical staff to continue to be able to see patients in Larkhill and Durrington."

The health provider said that depending on where you live, some patients may choose to re-register with another practice closer to their home.

On completion of the new joint NHS and Ministry of Defence medical centre in Larkhill (expected in February 2020) services will also cease in Durrington.

The advice if you aren't able to use the Durrington or Larkhill branches. or want to remain in Tidworth, is to re-register with another surgery.

Patients are being pointed towards the Castle Practice or Avon Valley Surgeries.
