Worm charming raising money for Harnham Parish Hall

Published by Faye Tryhorn at 6:02am 20th July 2019.

It's not your usual fundraiser... but looks like a fun day out!

It's hoped the inaugural event today (20th July) will raise much needed funds to renovate Harnham's parish hall.

Organisers also hope to raise awareness of the importance of worms for our gardens, our farms and for the planet.

WHAT EXACTLY IS WORM CHARMING?

The aim is to collect as many worms as you can in 15 minutes.

Each team comprises 3 members – a Charmerer, a Pickerer and a Counterer.

You can use music or anything you like to entice the creatures out the soil!

The team which collects the most worms is the winner.

The catcher of the longest worm also wins a prize.
