A345 through Amesbury CLOSED

A345 through Amesbury CLOSED

Published by Faye Tryhorn at 1:13pm 6th August 2019.

Roadworks will mean The Centre in the town is having to be shut on a few occasions over the next couple of weeks.

The work by Wiltshire Council is for some 'resurfacing, ironwork adjustment and new road markings'.

The section that's shut affects the stretch between the double mini-roundabout and the High Street/London Road crossroads, but will only be enforced during the daytime.

WHEN IS THE ROAD CLOSED?

We're told the closure's planned for the following dates:

  • Today (Tuesday August 6th) - access will remain for the High Street junction and the roundabouts
  • Tomorrow (Wednesday August 7th) - access will be available for the High Street junction and the roundabouts
  • Thursday August 8th - High Street junction remains open, but there's NO ACCESS to the roundabouts
  • Friday August 9th - Junction for the High Street open, NO ACCESS for the roundabouts
  • Monday August 12th - High Street junction remains open, but there's NO ACCESS to the roundabouts

On the roadworks days, the road will be closed between 7.00am and 6.00pm.

The High Street/London Road junction will still be accessible to drivers

There'll also be a further closure on Friday 16th August at the same location, with the High Street junction and the roundabouts staying open to traffic.

The roadworks have been met with some concern from local businesses that it might affect their trade while the work's ongoing:

MORE WORK TO FOLLOW?

The notice from Wiltshire Council suggests there could be more disruption to come, as it's in force until August 30th.

There's also expected to be work on the A345 Countess Road, up until the junction with the A303 Countess roundabout.

Wiltshire Council tell us that there's been a delay to that work due to the volume of traffic on the A303 itself and Highways England raising concerns about the impact on traffic.

There's no confirmed date for the remainder of the work at this stage, but Spire FM News has asked Wiltshire Council for further details.
