Officers are working on the basis that incidents in Wilton and Great Wishford could be connected.

They both happened on Wednesday afternoon (August 14th), with jewellery stolen in each case.

  • Between 12.00pm midday and 1.30pm, a house in Shortlands, Wilton was broken into
  • Thieves smashed the glass in the back door to gain entry
  • Another burglary was reported at South Street, Great Wishford, sometime between 12.30 and 5.15pm
  • Again, a rear window was broken to allow offender(s) to get in

PC James Barrett, from the Community Tasking Team, said:

"We are keeping an open mind about whether these two incidents are linked, but they are in relatively close proximity and had similar items taken.

"Both these burglaries happened in broad daylight and, although the properties were empty at the time, there is a strong chance neighbours or passers-by may have seen something suspicious."

There's now an appeal for anyone with information about the burglaries to get in touch with police.

If you can help with details about the Wilton incident, you're asked to call 101 with the crime reference number 54190080227.

For the Great Wishford burglary, the crime reference number is 54190080334.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
