Mystery surrounds the identity of the driver as the vehicle's registered keeper is a fake name.

Officers had a 'number of calls' last night (Thursday August 15th) from residents complaining about a car being 'erratically'.

It was also proving to be noisy as the exhaust pipe was hanging off.

The blue Peugeot 206 was reported to be in the Old Sarum area at around 11.55pm and police carried out a search.

They found the car abandoned in Partridge Way.

The car was discovered with no driver present in Old Sarum

Recovery was arranged for the car, and it had damage to its rear bumper.

Police tell us they've been trying to track down the driver, as the registered keeper of the vehicle is thought to be a fictional name.

Officers are looking at CCTV from local businesses to help with their enquiries.

They're also asking anyone who might have seen the car, and can help identify who was driving it, to get in touch with them.

You can contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log number 435 of August 15th.
