Man's body found in Amesbury field

The discovery's been made just off the A303, with police investigations 'at a very early stage'.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that the body was found by a member of the public at around the 1.15pm today (Thursday 5th September).

It was in a field next to the A303 westbound, between the Countess and Longbarrow roundabouts.

There's been a heavy police presence in the area this afternoon.

That's for investigations to be carried out into what's happened.

Wiltshire Police have given us this statement:

"At around 1.15pm today (5/9/19) we were called by a member of the public who had located the body of a man in a field off the A303, near Amesbury.

"Officers have attended and confirmed the man was deceased.

"Our enquiries are at a very early stage and we are keeping an open mind about the circumstances.

"People are likely to see an increased police presence in the area this evening, so should not be alarmed."
