Woodgreen PUB to host pop-up church service!

Woodgreen PUB to host pop-up church service!

The Horse and Groom will be welcoming worshippers for a special 'songs of praise' type event.

The idea comes after a successful reversal earlier this year when St Boniface Church in the New Forest village became a pop-up pub.

The pop-up pub at Woodgreen's church proved really successful at Christmas

The church was used to host a pub while the Horse and Groom was closed.

Associate Priest Nicky Davies said:

"Many people enjoyed our pop-up pub in the church and we had such a positive response that we wanted to do something more to engage with our community. So following the pop-up pub in the church we are inviting people to try our pop-up church in the pub! We have a brass band playing and this is a chance to sing favourite hymns and enjoy a pint and a prayer at the same time!"

WHEN WILL THE PUB BECOME A 'CHURCH'?

The service is due to be held on Sunday afternoon this week (September 15th) from 4.00pm.

It'll give local people a chance to get involved with some hymns and sermons.

The Horse and Groom re-opened to customers in May this year, after a campaign by local villagers to buy it as a community asset.
