She was at the wheel of a motorhome which collided with a car on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened on the westbound carriageway of the A303, close to Chicklade, at around 11.10am yesterday (18th September).

Two air ambulances were called to the accident.

Police say the motorhome driver, a woman in her 80's from the Taunton area, sadly died at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and the force say "our thoughts are with them at this very sad time."

A dog which was inside the motorhome also sadly died.

The driver of the white Volvo was taken to Salisbury District Hospital by land ambulance.

He's still being treated for back injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for approximately five hours to allow collision investigation work to take place and for the scene to be cleared.

Anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand, or who witnessed the collision is urged to call PC Charlotte Sartin, from Wiltshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit, on 101.
