Across the three days in June (28th to 30th), a total of 65,000 people went along to Hudson's Field.

It featured live music from acts like The Feeling, Kaiser Chiefs and Bjorn Again, along with military displays, family activities and flypasts by the Red Arrows amongst others.

In addition, the city hosted a huge military parade through the city centre.

Cllr Philip Whitehead, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said:

"Armed Forces Day National Event in Salisbury was a fantastic three-day celebration, enjoyed by thousands of people from Wiltshire and beyond.

"We're a proud military county and this was the perfect way to honour the Armed Forces, and our veterans. We were also honoured to welcome HRH The Princes Royal to Salisbury to take the salute in the Guildhall Square.

"But we couldn't have done it without our platinum sponsors, KBR Aspire Defence and Lovell, our gold sponsors, and all the other local businesses who helped to support the event.

"More than 200 Wiltshire Council staff gave up a collective 8,000 hours over the weekend, and this award nomination is a testament to their hard work and dedication."

  • Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival
  • Clacton Air Show

All the winners are set to be announced at an event in Bath in November.
