Details of the next big trek for the Salisbury District Hospital charity have been revealed.

Ancient Petra, in Jordan, is the venue for the next adventure, with those taking part all raising money for the Stars Appeal.

Over the last three treks, supported have raised more than £300,000 for the cause, towards equipment and projects over and above what the NHS can provide at our local hospital.

The trek will set off in April 2021, and is described by 'a challenge of a lifetime'.

It'll see those signed up travelling 100 kilometres in 6 days - walking Bedouin paths, over mountains, through desert and canyons, with some spectacular sights.

Walkers will camp out along the way, with the whole trek led by the team from the Coombe Bissett based company Discover Adventure.

Spaces are now available for Stars Appeal supporters to get involved.

Among those already pledging their support is Chief Executive of Salisbury District Hospital, Cara Charles-Barks:

Hayley Perry from Warminster is also signed up - she has a very personal reason for wanting to support the Stars Appeal.

Her son Jack was 6 years old when he fell ill and was diagnosed with Hemolytic Anemia.

That's where the red blood cells, that carry oxygen, are destroyed faster than they are made.

Hayley says she's ready to take it on:

"I'm scared, but incredibly excited! I'm not going to lie, I'm not the fittest of people, but I'm definitely up for the challenge."

A special Information Evening's being put on in Salisbury next month for potential trekkers to learn more about the adventure itself, as well as the costs and other vital details.

That's being held on Wednesday 6th November, with registration for that open now.

Everyone signing up is asked to raise at least £1,650 for the Stars Appeal.

Will you join the trekkers in Jordan in April 2021?

Trekkers can also choose to cover the cost of their trip themselves, or increase their fundraising target to include that too.

The donations will go towards the £1 million that the Stars Appeal needs to raise each year, to support hundreds of people visiting Salisbury District Hospital.
