The City Council and Wessex Water have installed a refill station on the High Street.

The water point will be ready to use in the coming days, just by the entrance to the Old George Mall.

Engineers have been on site for the last week to install it and test the water to make sure it's drinkable.

This is the second water refill point in Salisbury city centre, following on from one in the Market Place

The first of Salisbury's public water refill points arrived in April 2019

That was put earlier this year, after 10 year old Rosie Price spoke to City Councillors to push for them to be installed.

The High Street refill point will be officially launched on December 5th, to coincide with late night shopping in the city.

WHY WATER REFILL POINTS?

They're aimed at helping people to reduce reliance on plastic and decrease litter in the city.

Salisbury City Council is working to be as environmentally friendly as possible - declaring a climate emergency back in June.

It's hoped more refill points can be set up in public places around Salisbury in the future.
