Cllr Mary Douglas has been 'removed' from her position, following comments made at a Salisbury Area Board meeting.

The councillor for the Salisbury St Francis and Stratford ward has been stripped of her role as Portfolio Holder for Social Mobility and Skills.

It comes after she refused to support a bid from Salisbury Pride to get funding from Wiltshire Council.

Within the meeting, Cllr Douglas described the LGBTQ+ community as being 'misguided by a powerful ideology'.
