Ludgershall woman dies after being struck by car in Tidworth

The crash happened on the A338 through the town on Tuesday afternoon (12th November).

Officers were called to reports that two female pedestrians had been involved in a collision with a car just after 2.30pm.

The women were struck by a Volkswagen Sharan while they were using a crossing point, near to the Esso garage.

A 55 year old woman, who's from Ludgershall died at the scene.

Her family are being supported by specialist officers from Wiltshire Police.

The second woman, who's in her 20s, was taken to Salisbury District Hospital with minor injuries.

The female driver of the Sharan has been assisting police with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

The A338 remained closed for around six hours while investigations were carried out.

PC Pete Williamson, from Wiltshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We have already spoken to a number of witnesses, but we are appealing for anyone else with information who has not yet come forward to please call us.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who has dash cam footage or who saw either the collision itself, or the Volkswagen Sharan shortly beforehand.

“If you can help in any way then please make contact with police.”
