The City Council had asked for nominations of a deserving person or group who've made a positive difference to their community.

Molly Fisher, who is the Trustee for Encircles, has been chosen by the city's Mayor, Councillor John Walsh.

Molly was picked for her hard work at the homelessness, loneliness, isolation and poverty alleviation charity.

She takes time out of her day to provide food for low income families and the homeless asking for nothing in return and free of charge.

Molly Fisher will get officially start Christmas in Salisbury 2019.

Here are some reasons why people have nominated her:

'Molly works tirelessly for Encircles who deal with the homeless in Salisbury. She is in her late 70's and also runs her own business! This is so deserving for her and I certainly feel she should get some recognition for all the very hard work she does.'

'Molly has been leading the fight for homeless people in Salisbury. Making sure they get a hot meal each day and helping the more vulnerable ones into safe accommodation.'

'She has done a cracking job to feed and help the homeless. She will spend most of her time to help these people in dire situation. She's got a wonderful team behind her.'

Encircles will have a gazebo at the event; please support the charity in helping Salisbury's homeless by bringing tins and packets.

Salisbury's Christmas Lights Switch On will take place this Thursday (21 November) in the Market Place.
