Fancy earning a bit of extra cash in return for doing an all-nighter and helping democracy along too?

Wiltshire Council's looking for people to count the votes cast in the General Election next month.

They'd be needed on the evening of Thursday 12th December, working through to the early hours of Friday.

Would you have some time free to help with the election process?

Everyone working at the counts will be paid £150 for their time.

The local authority has responsibility for arranging the election count, tallying up the ballots cast at hundreds of polling stations across the county.

One of the counts is being held at Salisbury's Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre.

Staff are also needed for the Chippenham count, at the Olympiad Leisure Centre in the town.

Acting Returning Officer, Carlton Brand, said:

"We're really pleased with how plans are shaping up for the election, but we will still need a little help. Working at an election is fast-paced, busy but also fun and it's a good experience to play a role on such an important occasion for the country.

"If you can count to ten, then you're perfect for the role!"

If you're up for it, you can email electionstaff@wiltshire.gov.uk and state which venue you'd prefer to work at.
