Driver caught doing 69mph in New Forest

The motorist was caught on Roger Penny Way in the DARK.

The vehicle was clocked on Tuesday (19th Nov) doing 29mph over the 40 limit.

Officers have been targeting the stretch of road as part of National Road Safety Week.

Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 20th November) police went back on the B3078, with yet more drivers failing to stick to the limit.

  • 159 vehicles were surveyed in just under an hour
  • 20 vehicles caught speeding
  • Top speed 48mph

Last Wednesday (13th November) 40 motorists were caught speeding on the same road.

In March, Roger Penny Way was identified as one of four high-risk routes where livestock are most likely to be involved in an accident.

The B3708 is an animal accident hot spot.


Winter evenings are the most dangerous time for accidents and road users are being urged to slow down.

Animal deaths rise each time the clock goes back.

63 animals were killed on the New Forest last year.
