Serving soldier killed in Shrewton crash

Corporal Ifereimi Vasu died in the collsion on the B390.

The soldier's Hyundai i40 crashed with a Volkswagen Transporter last Saturday night (23rd November). 

The Army's now told Spire FM that Corporal Vasu, who was in his 40s, served with the Yorkshire Regiment, which is based in Warminster.

The crash happened on the B390 between Shrewton and Chitterne

In a statement, they've said: 

"We can confirm that Corporal Ifereimi Vasu sadly died in a road traffic accident near Shrewton, Wiltshire on Saturday 23rd November. Next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. 

"Wiltshire Police are investigating and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further."

Cpl Vasu's regiment has also paid tribute to their comrade:

The B390 between Shrewton and Chitterne was closed for several hours following the crash.

Police have asked anyone with information about what happened to get in touch with them by calling 101.
