Car fire on Salisbury's Churchill Way

The vehicle caught alight close to the College roundabout causing some major traffic problems.

Firefighters were called out just before 9.30am this morning (Monday 2nd December).

The car was well alight, near to the halls of residence for Wiltshire College Salisbury.

No-one's been hurt in the incident.

ROAD RE-OPENED

Following the fire, the road was partially shut, due to some damage to the carriageway itself.

Highways England engineers have assessed the scene, but have now confirmed that no further work's needed.

SMOKE ALARMS AFFECTED

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue tell us the fire alarms at the halls of residence nearby has also been set off as a precaution.

They've checked all is safe within the building and reset the alarms.
