It's set to replace the newsagents on Andover Road in the town.

Four County Inns (Properties) Ltd submitted an application in May, but after some criticism from local residents and the town council, planning chiefs rejected the plans because of possible noise and disturbance to the people living nearby.

The company then re-submitted their plans for the former Kaiwal Newsagents store, which has been empty since 2017, in September.

Three months later and the second application for the micro-pub has now been approved after some small changes including their opening times.

In the planning application, Four County Inns said

"The proposal would increase the range of drinking establishments in the town, adding a micro-pub. This service would be of direct benefit to the community, increasing leisure options. "

One thing that changed from the previous plans were the opening times which will now be:

  • 12pm-10pm Monday to Friday
  • 12pm-10:30pm Saturday
  • 12pm-9:30pm Sundays and Bank Holidays

There is no word on when the newsagents will be converted and when the micro-pub will be opened, but it appears it will be called 'THE LITTLE PRINCE'
