Officers had been doing a routine traffic stop this morning around Amesbury.

At around 11:40am this morning (Tuesday 10th December) police stopped the driver of a black Audi in a car park in Solstice Park.

Initially, he was stopped due to the vehicle having tinted windows, but further checks revealed a 31-year-old Hampshire man had suspected driving and immigration offences.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and entering the country illegally.

He was then taken to Melksham Police Station custody and the vehicle was seized.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
