HAMPSHIRE: Car registration needed to use tips

Otherwise drivers could face a fine if they dump their waste at centres in the county.

At Household Waste Recycling Centres across Hampshire, Automatic Number Plate Recognition has now been installed which can check the registrations of vehicles entering the sites.

It now means people have to register their cars online to use the centres freely and without delays.

Anyone who goes to get rid of their waste that hasn't signed up will be approached by staff and may be charged £5 for doing so.

You can only register three vehicles per address though, so houses with four or more will have to pick which cars are more likely to be used at the tip.

Also for anyone who moves house or changes cars, they will need to register online again.

Registration closes later in 2020, but they are currently having some small issues with their website due to the volume of traffic.

You can register your vehicles on Hampshire County Council's website.
