Salisbury District Hospital welcomes first four newborns of the decade

The 1st January 2020 saw four babies being born at the city's hospital.

A baby girl, born at 3am on Wednesday (January 1st), became the first newborn of the new decade at Salisbury District Hospital. 

There were three others born that day also: 

  • A boy at 11:27am
  • Another girl arrived at 4:42pm
  • A third girl at 7:56pm

Salisbury District Hospital welcomed four new babies on both Christmas Day and New Years Day

Vicki Marston, Deputy Head of Maternity and Neonatal Services said:

"It is a delight and absolute privilege to have helped bring 4 babies into the world on New Year's Day, what a wonderful way to start the new decade. Congratulations to all the parents and thanks to all our amazing staff for working over the holiday period."

In 2019 the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust's maternity team registered 2,197 births.
