The Hampshire Constabulary initiative is aimed at dog walkers who are often out and about in the New Forest.

Similar to the Neighbourhood Watch concept, Dog Watch encourages dog walkers in the county to be vigilant while in the New Forest.

There are many forces and councils across the country who run the scheme as a way for the relevant authorities to get quick information.

As walkers are usually the first out in the morning and the last out at night, it means they can report any unusual observations, suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour going on.

Hampshire Constabulary are now calling for dog walkers to get involved with the scheme and help them monitor the Forest more efficiently.
